I went back to Uganda after 35 years in January 2008. It was inconceivable that I would not visit Makerere University where I had studied for my first degree. When I arrived there, a Graduation Ceremony was in progress. I saw a senior faculty head who happened to walk past me and I introduced myself. He introduced me to Mr Nuha Mwesigwa, who is Director of the Makerere University Private Sector Forum.
Following a meeting over lunch at the Makerere Guest House, programmes leading to a major programme of collaboration have taken shape following my return to England. Last week, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Livingstone Luboobi, Mr Nuha Mwesigwe and a number of senior managers and staff were in London.
